The “Kings of Battle” are heading downrange.
First Battalion, 12th Marines, out of Marine Corps Base Hawaii, deployed to Afghanistan during the last week of April. The artillery unit reported Tuesday on its Facebook page that Alpha Battery had arrived in Kyrgyzstan, the assumed last stop on their trip before reaching the war zone.
About 500 Marines with 1/12 will replace 1st Battalion, 10th Marines, out of Camp Lejeune, N.C., which has served as the Corps’ primary artillery battalion in Afghanistan for all of 2011, Marine officials said. Elements of 1/10 also have patrolled Kajaki, a volatile district to Sangin’s northeast.
Charlie, Echo, Alpha and Headquarters and Service Battalion from 1/12 deployed, Marine officials said. Bravo Battery will stay behind, providing fires during training exercises in Hawaii this summer.

Go to their Facebook page and count the OPSEC violations. Thanks for (among other things) showing name-tapes. That helps when nefarious characters want to prey on families.
Chuck,
If showing nametapes was a problem, how would the military ever allow interviews with deployed Marines? Your logic is suspect.
Dan,
I am guessing he is a motivated LT who has been to two OPSEC briefs in his entire career. I have a few photographs of myself with family in my cammies. Now the terrorists know my last name… not like they didn’t figure it out when they found me on Facebook..
