It’s understood that Hollywood takes liberties when depicting Marines, but this might be pushing it.

“High School Musical” star Zac Efron has been tapped to play a war-hardened Iraq veteran with three combat tours under his belt, according to entertainment-news reports.

The film, called “The Lucky One,” is about a Marine who returns to North Carolina after three tours and “searches for the unknown woman he believes was his good luck charm during the war,” according to a synopsis on the Internet Movie Database.

The movie is based on a book by the same name, written by tearjerker-extraordinaire Nicholas Sparks. Grunts undoubtedly recognize his name from other book-to-film classics such as “The Notebook” and “Nights in Rodanthe.”

So, Marines.  Efron is probably not your first choice to portray you on the big screen. Who would you cast in the role of Marine?

He doesn’t look old enough to have completed boot camp, nevermind 3 tours. Battle hardened?? Does he even need to shave, yet???

  2. ashlyn hope Marine Fiancee on

umm no! Channing tatum or mark wahlberg from shooter. And please pick a good girl. Like rheese witherspoon or kate hudson or somebody cute. The only good thing about dear john was channing.

  3. This kid? Seriously?? Is he even old enough to enlist? I agree, id rather see Mark Walhberg play the Marine role, he was really good in Shooter. I love that movie.

  4. Oh H-H-Hell nooooo!!! I will not stand for some Disney movie musical pre-teen playing a Marine. Mark Wahlburg all the way. Or Liam Neeson.

  5. If Hollywood is looking for a baby face, James (Jim) Caviezel is a good one. He played Christ was is “Semper Fi” … I can see him playing a Marine. Just sayin.
