Late-night talk show host Conan O’Brien had some fun with Wal-Mart’s recently announced plan to hire 100,000 veterans by highlighting what it might be like if your former drill instructor was the first person to welcome shoppers into the store. A skit on TBS’s “Conan” shows a former Army drill sergeant wearing a blue smock “welcoming” shoppers as they walk in. Company President and CEO Bob Iger announced the company wide initiative called “Heroes Work Here” on Tuesday, March 13th. There is much more to the new program than just hiring vets. [HTML1] Our colleagues over at USA Today caught up with former Marine Cpl. Scott Olsen after recovering from a head injury sustained during the Occupy Oakland protests on October 25. Olsen lost the ability to speak for a period of time, but is slowly regaining it. With a scar above his left eye, Olsen returned to the scene of the protests where he was hit by a projectile, resulting in a fractured skull.
